THAT DAY.................................... At the International Gymnastics Federation world championships in Glasgow, Simone Biles became the first woman in history to win three consecutive world all-around titles.
Simone Biles, is an American gymnast who is considered one of the sport’s greatest athletes. She was born in Columbus, Ohio,the third of four siblings. Simone’s mom struggled with problems (drug and alcohol ) So at the age of three, Simone was in foster care. Ronald Biles, Simone’s biological grandfather received a call that changed his and Simone’s life forever. “I got a call from a social worker that said Simone and her sister were in foster care. So I said without hesitation, ‘send them to me,'” he recalls. So Ronald and his new wife Nellie, moved them down to Houston and soon after, in 2003, officially adopted the two youngest children, Simone and Adria, and Ron's sister adopted the two oldest.
Simone was so tiny and jumping off everything that the couple decided to put her in gymnastics. The instructors saw immediately that she was gifted and began training with coach Aimee Bowman at age 8.
Simone Biles spent all her secondary education as a homeschooler and graduated in the summer of 2015. She had committed to UCLA but decided finally to turn professional, forfeiting her NCAA eligibility. Biles' senior international debut was in March at the 2013 American Cup, a FIG World Cup event. finished second behind her teammate, Ohashi, after a fall off the beam. Biles immediately went on to compete at the 2013 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy, where she took the all-around, vault, balance beam, and floor exercise titles in addition to contributing to the United States' team gold medal….From there Simone was on her way to become the best in the world.
At the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Biles qualified in first place in the all-around, vault, beam, and floor finals. Biles lost balance herE....stepped out of the floor there but.....the level of difficulty of her routines was so great that these little mistakes didn't prevent her from winning.
“On beam, I think I gave the whole world a heart attack as well as myself out there, and then floor I’d never gone out of bounds, but I guess there’s a first for everything,” Biles said afterward.
With that victory, Biles, who was The best gymnast in the world for the past two years became the first woman to win three consecutive all-around titles in World Gymnastics Championships history. Russia’s Svetlana Khorkina previously won three, but not in succession.
“There’s no question that Simone is an extremely special gymnast with great physical abilities,” Karolyi told USA Gymnastics. “It’s a nice discipline behind that to work on the areas which not coming so easy for her. It’s almost like the best proof is how she won the world medal on beam. That’s usually not for bouncy girls so she had to put on great effort to make sure that she’s doing the right job.”
"I guess pretty speechless and I just keep blowing my own mind because yes there are goals that I have and then I dream of it and then I make it a reality like I'm just shocked by myself," Biles. "If I could crawl out of my skin and see it, it would be really amazing."
